The Coinage of James I

  1605 Sixpence of James I

1605 Sixpence
good Fine

A decent coin from the year of the 'Gunpowder Plot' where Guy Fawkes and thirteen conspired to blow up the parliament, the King, and his Lords, thereby throwing the country into turmoil.

Typically the 1605 Sixpence is the 3rd Bust, you do see a few 4th busts offered, but not nearly as often.

This is quite a nice example, sporting a decent portrait of King James, the facial features are somewhat weak, but the hair and crown are nice.
A somewhat irregular planchet, may have had a little of the clipping or silver shaving typical of the period.
The reverse is quite nice with a strong date.
A nice find for the James I Sixpence collector.
